With a background in some chemistry, art collections management and code, I came to library school with an interest in conservation and preservation for management of library and special collections. I work as a technician and archivist in the Preservation Division at NYPL and in the photo archives at the Brooklyn Collection so my library experience spans art and collections care in both analog and digital domains. My thesis is on preservation metadata for born-digital art and I run a low-fidelity tech blog (aureliamoser.com) so I'm interested in bridging the gap between conservation and preservation in analog and digital formats, which increasingly characterizes the range of media responsibilities for a preservation librarian in our contemporary information age. In May, I'm presenting at the EVA Conference in Florence about my thesis topic but I would really like to engage with some of the cultural heritage communities in my immediate vicinity. As a scholarship student at SxSW and the Eyeo Festival, my particular brand of datageekery is well documented in a few digital projects on my site, and in the Digital Humanities and Linked Data programs I've helped to organize as a board member at SLA@Pratt.
